Too Old To Play Pretend
I know that you don’t like me,
And we’re not really friends,
But I saw you sitting lonely there,
So thought I’d make amends.
Your hair is really pretty,
Your eyes aren’t bad as well,
But when you’re poking fun at me,
It’s really hard to tell.
‘Don’t make fun of other people’,
My mummy used to say.
Your mummy told you something different,
Since you play with me this way.
I’ve told you I don’t like it,
And you don’t seem to care.
I thought maybe my friends could help,
But they’re all blissfully unaware.
So I take all of your teasing,
Though I know it isn’t fair.
One day I hope the tables turn,
And you get your fair share.
So that’s why I don’t like you,
And the reason we’re not friends.
Enjoy your lonely day today,
Because we’re too old to play pretend.
